Gluten-Free Recipe Books
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
When can I expect my Book after I pay for it?
We apologize for any inconvenience our credit-card-fraud prevention and other payment-default prevention methods
incur. Regardless of the payment method you use, we ensure buyer legitimacy and payment validity
prior to shipping our products.
We ship as soon as your payment is confirmed valid: this is a speedy process. Depending which
form of payment you use during our secure PayPal-managed checkout process, the payment-verification period varies
as follows:
- PayPal Balances: immediate — a great option for established PayPal users.
- Credit-Card: usually same-day for Visa, Discover, Mastercard, American Express.
- Checks (via PayPal e-Checks): up to 7 business days. PayPal can process electronic-withdrawals from your checking
account, but this is the slowest payment method (they allow ample time for check to clear).
- Cash: Immediate — but only in person; thus, an unlikely payment method.
- Mailed Checks / Money-Orders / Bank-Checks: Sorry, we no longer accept physical checks of any kind.
Within the USA, standard USPS shipping should take approximately 3-6 business days from the date we ship your
book(s), and we ship ASAP once your payment has cleared.
International/Foreign orders are sent by USPS Global Priority Mail and will arrive
typically within one week (most major countries in the world; perhaps a bit longer if your location is isolated or
rather remote).
How is the Book Packaged for Shipment
All books are bubble-wrapped. Domestic (USA) shipments are then placed in a book-sized
strong cardboard mailer box for maximum protection. For International shipments, we securely mount the bubble-wrapped
book between two pieces of cardboard and place this into an international priority mailer which is further reinforced
prior to mailing.
Do you charge Sales Tax?
SureTalent Books is an Ohio Corporation with physical HQ in the State of Ohio (Wayne County). Thus, for
shipments/sales to locations within Ohio, we are legally obligated to collect Sales Tax.
For those of you inside Ohio, the sales tax rate is currently 6.25%.
In addition, Ohio lawmakers have expanded sales tax to include taxing Shipping and Handling charges.
If a purchase is delivered to a location outside Ohio, there is no sales tax.
How do you handle Currency Conversion and Customs for Foreign Orders
Currency conversion should not be an issue if you are paying by Visa or any other electronic method that
automatically converts from our US Dollar (USD) prices to your local currency at time of order. Our
PayPal checkout system handles this all automatically.
SureTalent Books ships worldwide. But, it is simply impossible for us to know the customs process in
every country. You are responsible for any customs taxes, but, from experience, countries like the UK and
Australia do not typically impose any duties on our book if you import one. We suggest asking your local post office
if you're not sure how your country handles this.
Why are there Limited Quantities?
UPDATE: 2011-09 — less than 300 printed books remain. We are not printing any more.
Some persons have asked about the limited-quantity of [printed] gluten free recipe books we have
available.
This is not a marketing ploy; it has to do with how many books we must contract to print at once in order
to obtain favorable per-copy pricing (since a full-color, full-sized printed book of this scale is quite
expensive to print).
We must print at least 2000 books per run to maintain an economically viable business, and such a quantity of
books takes up a great deal of space and weighs tons (literally 3 tons per run).
Due to the substantial weight, shipping costs are also high and with rising energy prices have
contributed to reduced margins on printed books.
And finally, the physical storage space to maintain large inventories of printed books is no longer available to us
as of 2011.
Once the last of the printed books is sold, our cookbook will remain available in electronic distribution
only (Amazon Kindle e-Book and similar). You can purchase a printed book from us for as long as
they are available here on our website (if this site allows you to order a book, we have them in stock yet).
Ultimately we will maintain just a very small reserve of physical printed books for future promotions and such;
the printed edition of the book will be difficult to come by quite soon.
Are these Print-On-Demand (POD) Books? NO.
No, we are not using print on demand technology for our printed gluten free recipe books,
since, that technology is mainly targeted at black-and-white books that just have a color-cover (like most other
GF recipe books), whereas our books are all full-color throughout.
We have contracted with a major color-printing facility that uses state of the art printing presses and
binding equipment to produce our gluten free recipe books (4-color printing on high-end Heidelberg presses;
thread-bound binding; etc.).
The result is a book of recipes that will look wonderful in your kitchen or on your coffee table —
just like any high-quality color cookbook or recipe book you see at your favorite bookstore.
How do your book prices compare to others?
This is a difficult comparison to make. Our books employ full color photography throughout (of each recipe), and
are printed on high quality heavy paper. This sets a new standard for books featuring gluten-free recipes, since
most (if not all) other gluten free books are black and white (with a color cover, and perhaps a few color
insert pages).
And, if the color recipe pictures throughout our gluten free recipe books were not enough of a difference, our money back satisfaction guarantee surely makes a direct comparison even more
difficult.
The bottom line is you are getting unique high-quality recipe books that may well be slightly more than some
other books. But, the books are well worth it if you will be living gluten free for many years to come.
A few batches of cookies, or a cake or two, and the book has paid for itself!
In addition to being gluten-free, are your recipes...
Soy-Free: YES. We do not use any soy products in our recipes.
Dairy-Free: NO. Many of these dessert recipes use the same types of ingredients regular desserts use (like
butter, cream-cheese, cream, milk). We have successfully altered various recipes to be dairy-free and have
posted some variations on this website, but we suggest you create your own variations using your preferred
dairy-free alternative ingredients.
Sugar-Free: NO. These are dessert recipes. They are sweetened like all mainstream desserts: using sugar,
brown-sugar, molasses, and so forth. If you are on a sugar-free diet, they can be adapted just like any other
recipes, but we have only posted (online here) a few such sugar-free variations.
Reduced-Calorie: NO. These are dessert recipes like all mainstream desserts. You can alter the recipes to
reduce fat and sugar content; we have posted some variations here, and we have discussed methods to improve
healthfulness of recipes on our Gluten-Free Blog too.
Why is your [printed] book not at Amazon?
Simply put, after the cut that retailers demand to sell our books, we would lose money. Most major book retailers
take 50-60% of the retail price of the book. This would not be an issue if we would have went with inexpensive
black and white content like most of our "competition", but we wanted to really show definite full
color visual proof of what our gluten free recipes create, and also offer a money back
satisfaction guarantee to anyone purchasing our printed books.
