Shrimp With Lime and Dijon Mustard

  • 2medium red onion, chopped 
  • 1 cup fresh lime juice, plus lime zest as garnish
  • 4 tablespoons capers
  • 2 tablespoon Dijon mustard 
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup rice vinegar 
  • 6 whole cloves
  • 2 bay leaf
  • 2 pounds uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined (about 24)


  1. Mix lime juice, onion, mustard, hot sauce, and capers.
  2. In a cooking pan or saucepan pour water and add vinegar, bay leaf, and cloves.
  3. Bring this mixture to a boil.
  4. Then add shrimp and simmer for a few minutes. Then drain and transfer the shrimp to a bowl that contains an onion mixture.
  5. discard the bay leaf and cloves.
  6. let it refrigerate for a few hours.
  7. now to serve it divide it into small bowls and garnish with lime zest
